Hallo,
Weihnachten steht bekanntlich vor der Tür. Wie jedes Jahr werden
vermutlich auch diesmal wieder viel zu viele niedliche Haustiere samt
Käfig sowie fragwürdige elektronische Spielereien unterm Weihnachtsbaum
liegen.
Während die Tiere leider häufig schnell uninteressant werden und das
kommende Jahr vermutlich hinter Gitterstäben verbringen werden, sind es
bei vielen der elektronischen Geräten die Anwender, die als
"Happy-Slave" im "goldenen Käfig" des Vendor-Lock-Inns sich über ihre
freiwilligen elektronischen Fußfesseln freuen. Während die anfangs
niedlichen Tierwelpen all zu häufig mit Missachtung gestraft werden,
wachsen die elektronischen Alltags-"helfer", Sorgenvertreiber oder
schlicht Unterhaltungsgeräte all zu häufig zu übermächtigen und
(neu)gierigen Datenkraken heran, die ihre Nutzer fest im Griff haben -
Wegwerfgesellschaft hin oder her.
"Planned Obsoleszenz", also der geplante Verschleiß von Produkten (die
häufig als schlecht recycelbare Wegwerfartikel und ohne
Reparaturmöglichkeit konzipiert werden), ist ein weiterer Punkt. Die
Ausführungen über umweltzerstörerische und unmenschliche Ressourcen-
gewinnung der ca. 40 verschiedenen sogenannten "seltenen Erden" &
Metalle sowie die Produktionsbedingungen unserer Handys, Laptops etc.
spare ich mir anlässlich des vorweihnachtlichen Zeit an dieser Stelle.
Von daher bietet es sich an, schon bei der Auswahl von (Weihnachts-)
Geschenken im alljährlichen Konsumrausch den Zweck nochmal innerlich zu
hinterfragen.
Für technische Geräte gibts bei der FSFE, weiter unten in dieser E-Mail,
einen kleinen "Ethical Tech Giving Guide".
Aber vielleicht braucht's ja gar keinen hübsch eingepackten
elektronischen Zeitfresser zum Fest. Wie wäre es denn mit einem Kurs
oder einer Mitgliedschaft in einem lokalen Repair-Cafee oder
Makerspace?! Dinge reparieren, anstatt sie wegzuwerfen! Und ganz
nebenbei Leute kennenlernen und gemeinsam kreative Ideen umsetzen!
Erfahrung und Wissen teilen, zusammen Neues entdecken - jenseits des
"goldenen Käfigs" als freier Mensch.
In diesem Sinne, wünsche ich euch allen noch eine schöne Vorweihnachtszeit.
